Reputable breeders begin grooming their puppies around 6 weeks of age and will tell you to start young and be consistent. We accept vaccinated puppies at 8 weeks old. Some veterinarians may recommend you wait until they receive all their vaccinations. While we keep our facilities clean and disinfected, and all dog’s are required to be current on vaccinations, we leave the choice up to the owner. If you do choose to wait, keep in mind you will need to groom your puppy yourself at home (bathing, drying, nail trimming, ear cleaning, brushing, combing, and maybe even some trimming) to get them used to the grooming process. We recommend puppies come in every 2-4 weeks depending on their individual temperament and personality, and you will most likely need to continue “training” and practicing with your puppy at home to reinforce what it’s learning.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Do you cage/cabinet dry?” title_color=”#c64560″ background_color=”#f2d5d9″][vc_column_text]We do not cage dry as a regular method of drying. All pets are hand dried with a velocity dryer or stand dryer. On occasion, we will use a fan or a dryer that has no heating element on a low speed to help dry the face or feet on some pets.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”How much is grooming?” title_color=”#c64560″ background_color=”#f2d5d9″][vc_column_text]We do not post grooming prices online for many different reasons. When you call, we can give you a quote range based on the breed of dog (or breeds if the dog is a mixed breed) and when the dog was groomed last. Upon seeing the dog, we will be able to give you a more precise idea of price based on the dog’s size, coat condition, and what you want done. We do not have “set prices” and only do “that amount of work” because that is what you were quoted. Pets that come in regularly with well maintained coats (2-6 weeks) will have more consistent pricing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Do you groom senior pets?” title_color=”#c64560″ background_color=”#f2d5d9″][vc_column_text]We do groom senior pets if they are able to handle the grooming process. Each senior pet is handled on a case-by-case basis.Senior and geriatric pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort. Occasionally, their groom may not be perfect due to mobility issues or the individual pet’s tolerance level of certain tasks being performed. On the rare occasion, we may be unable to continue grooming your pet into their senior years and refer you to veterinarian clinic that provides grooming if we feel that it would be in your pet’s best interest and health.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”What is clipper rash?” title_color=”#c64560″ background_color=”#f2d5d9″][vc_column_text]Clipper rash, or also known as “clipper burn” or “clipper irritation”, is not an actual burn from a hot clipper blade but an irritation to the skin from a short shave. Some dogs, just like some humans, are more sensitive to shaving than others. The area will be red, very pink, or raw, and sometimes with or without bumps. Sometimes your pet may scratch or lick a freshly shaved area and end up giving themselves an irritation or wound. There is no way of knowing if your pet will end up with irritation unless we have been told ahead of time from the owner. And sometimes a pet who has received the same length for years can all of a sudden develop sensitivity and may get irritation. If irritation happens after a groom, let us know! We have a couple of different topical products we can give you to help soothe it. Also we recommend using a cone or a t-shirt to prevent the pet from making it worse. We will make a note in your pet’s file and take a different approach with the next groom.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”My pet may be aggressive or tries to bite, can he still be groomed?” title_color=”#c64560″ background_color=”#f2d5d9″][vc_column_text]We do not groom aggressive dogs or cats. Any aggressive pet will be referred to a veterinarian clinic that provides grooming services where the pet can be sedated/tranquilized and safely groomed. If your pet has been known to have issues during certain parts of the grooming process, let us know when booking the appointment and we will try our best to complete it. If a pet is trying to bite or is lunging/thrashing/flailing where it could harm our staff or itself, we will stop the groom and refer you to a veterinarian.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Can I watch or stay with my pet?” title_color=”#c64560″ background_color=”#f2d5d9″][vc_column_text]Unfortunately we do not allow you to stay or watch while your pet is being groomed. Your presence will bring unnecessary stress and distraction while we work with sharp instruments, which risks the safety of your pet. Just like kids, they always are on their best behavior when they are with someone else. You are welcomed to stay and observe while we groom, as long as it isn’t your personal pet.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”How long will my pet be there? Do you kennel my pet?” title_color=”#c64560″ background_color=”#f2d5d9″][vc_column_text]Our bath appointments usually stay 1 1/2-2 1/2 hours. Our haircut appointments are normally 3-3 1/2 hours. We do take a couple of pets at an appointment time and rotate working on them. Occasionally, we do run behind but you will be notified if we plan on keeping your pet longer than normal. All pets are kept in a crate or a pen for their safety. We do not allow pets to roam as we are not a day care facility. Having dogs roam around with other dogs who have not been temperament tested or properly socialized creates an unnecessary potential risk of your dog being harmed. For this reason, your pet will be kept in their own safe area.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][/vc_accordion][vc_empty_space height=”40″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
